just going to awkwardly push my way into this thread
I am drowning in fics that I have to write/update. I don't know when I'm gong to resurface but I'm buried under fics. If I were to combine the amount of fics that I have to update across all three fandoms that I write fic for, it would probably be close to or over thirty honestly.
I have a serious problem.

I don't know how I'm alive to be honest but it's too many much so I was just like screw it, I'm only focusing on two at a time so I did and it's going pretty slow at the moment. You must control the urge to write, nothing good will come of starting too many stories at once except for the pretty graphics.

I have two up and two more planned and probably more but I'm resisting exploring that option.
Idk I'm just really inspired.
Shrug.

I always liked writing but I never really sat and planned fics but now I have like three ideas for fics that I'm planning. And I feel overwhelmed with just three honestly. And I still have more ideas brewing in my head.

I just get overwhelmed when people don't read my stuff. Writing the stuff is simpler for me cuz well I have no stress on my shoulders but my ADHD make it hard for me to focus on the long list I made of future stories and updates I need to do. It's frustrating. I have 5sos stories and 1dff stories to do. What's the use of writing any fan fiction if everyone wants to play favorites and skip over you? I've been writing since I was 9. I deserve some acknowledgement despite being overrun by better people and better fics. Why should it matter how many people do or do not read your writing? Yes, it's nice to get attention and it's great when people applaud your work -- but at the same time, the reason you should be writing is to get better, and because you think it's fun. For yourself. Literally though, it's fan fiction. It should just be for fun. The moment it stops being fun is the moment you should walk away and try something new. People don't 'play favorites' on purpose. Not everyone's writing style is going to be everyone else's cup of tea. Not every plot line is going to sound attractive and interesting to everyone. People like what they like, they like the writing style that they like, and there's nothing to be done about it. It is what it is. If you love what you're writing, then keep writing, even if you have no readers or reviewers. Fan fiction is written because you love something, as a hobby, for fun. Never should it be about what other people want or like. It's about you. It's what you like. If you get attention for it, that's wonderful, but if not, that's wonderful too because at least you're doing something you enjoy. And I don't know why this is so long and preachy I'm sorry bye.

Yes yes yes I agree with Heather (omfg I think this is the first time I've called you by your name but I stalk you on tumblr aha) and Leesh and not Becca bc I say ayeeee all the time too but it's because I live in the ghetto so it's acceptable.
Basically yeah. I mean not everyone is going to read your story because it's just there. I find that talking with your readers and stuff helps too especially through tumblr. It's a great way to get your stuff out there and to find new stuff as well!
