What do you think the word count of a chapter should be? because I have been reading around and I think it should be somewhere from 1000 to 4000 words personally.

I usually tend to end mine when I feel it's a good ending. I like it when a chapter has the length around 2500-5500. I don't have the attention span for chapters much past 6000... but sometimes a chapter is really intense and rlly good and goes on for a long while, so that's okay. other times you might have some rlly important fluff, and the chapter is one 2500 words long. it really depends on the content of the chapter, and what you as an author feel is the good amount. don't focus on how long it is, focus on the flow of it all. If you found a good place to end it and it's only 2000 words long? then whatever. idk... that's my personal thought.... (though ngl, if a fic has chapters where each one is around 1500, I probably wont read it. If it's a consistent thing, it means it's really fast paced, and I probably wont enjoy it. I try to aim around 3500. Just under is fine, a little over is great too.)

I personally find it hard to write anything over 3000 words because of my attention span and I like to update as much as I can with out it being too short. But If I do a prologue I will keep it at around 1000 words

I know author's who like chapters that are over 5000 words, minimum, and I can barely pay attention to read a chapter that long. That's just me, though. Prologue are always nice when short, though, I will say that.

Word count...the one issue that divides whole fandoms.
I am biased, I write between 2k-3k per chapter , when the story is light-hearted, everything more dramatic (like my current 5SoSFF) is more like 3k-4k per chapter and well, for historic fics everything between 6k-9k is a go... My prologues are between 1k-2k.
Now for reading, well that's a difficult one. I normally don't care, as long as the story is well written, but I've learned that around 2k and above means better quality...

word count is so different for every person and fic! for me, i often struggle to get a chapter under 5k words, and most of my 1d fics range from 5-7k words per chapter. my problem is i definitely ramble too much and probably add in much more than needed, but sometimes i can't be stopped aha
although im trying to lesson my chapter sizes for my 5sos fics so maybe around 3-5k is the size im going for!
as for reading, i do love shorter chapters bc i have a horrible attention span but it all depends on the content, i guess

I generally write around 3,500 words for chaptered stories and 8,000 words for one-shots. When reading I like the word count per chapter to be between 4-7k. Anything over that is too long for me to focus on (unless it's a one-shot, in which case I prefer it to be much longer).

For me, I can never get over 2000 on a regular bases. I wrote one chapter on a 1DFF fic that was 2700 words and I had a comment like "Wow that's a long update" But on average I write 1500 to 2000 but I have a short attention span, so I never fare well with anything over that much

usually I try to have from 1k to 4k word count. For reading I don't care. For me it's more of the quality not the quantity.
