Gem's 'Heartbreak' Challenge! [July 31;8/14][RESULTS POSTED]

so ive never done this before so who knows if im even doing this right??


Basically ive been a member of 5sosff for a while now and ive been extremely clueless about how to make challenges and join them and now i kinda know how i though id give it ago?


anyway my name is gemma and im doing 'Gems Heartbreak Challenge' which is inspired around the idea of me giving you a song to do with heartbreak and you writing something to do with it??? Im always told i write using ideas from songs and theyre always pretty sad so why not give you guys a go at trying it?? I''l have some letters below which you can choose which will translate to a song which i will then message you as soon as i can! you can write using just one line of a lyric as inspiration, or as if your telling the story of the song or what would happen after the song, its entirely up to you, you can choose who feels heartbreak it being the boy or ofc, or whether its after that or how they fix it, just as long as i can see an association to the song in some way, and im also letting you choose what boy you want to write with! a lot of these songs are from different genres and hopefully you all know them, but if i give you yours and you really dont know it then dont be afraid to ask me to switch songs  


Rules:

• Plagarism is in no way tolerated. As a writer myself the idea of plagiarism is horrible and you will be removed from the challenge if you are caught doing this!
• If you need an extension then please let me know cause im kinda cool and down to earth and i have a lot of songs and id rather give you more time and see more entries than have none and everyone rushing
• 2000+ words is amazing but if you cant reach this then there is no issue whatsoever if you want it to become a fic then please have at least 3 chapters posted as it makes it easier for me to judge!
• Any rating or any warnings go, just as long you include the song somewhere
• please put the challenge title in your summary and message me the link to it when its up

hey guys! i just wanted to apologize for being 4 days late, ive been ill in the hospital but now im home and ready to share the results!! there were only 3 one shots that have been submitted on time, and they have been ranked as follows!

BEST OVERALL ONESHOT:




this one shot is the winner of the entire challenge.

i read this story and instantly fell in love with it. i love the imagery i got from it, i also loved the way it made me scream out from the true desire of wanting the characters to be together, and the joy i felt once i read the ending and discovered they found their way back to each other. thank you so much for entering my challenge and giving me a story that i truly love and re-read occasionally when i need something to remind me that true love always wins. the reason i chose this as my winner is because i tried to stay true to the challenge, by choosing the story that was truly heartbreaking. in this story the characters were forced apart and that they couldnt be together, something that happens on a daily basis, and the way it was written and told was truly heartbreaking. congratulations Mariana, you broke my heart!

this oneshot was the best Calum entry within the challenge.


im gonna be brutally honest and say that this story genuinely brought a tear to my eye as i read it. i fell in love with the way that the story from the song wasnt as obvious as it could have been, and it was the subtle things that anyone in a relationship would have that was the inspiration. i loved the way that i could so clearly see calum sat in that car in so much pain, and the way i could hear his voice breaking as he said the words 'i miss you' all because it was written so amazingly well.

this oneshot was the best Luke entry within the challenge.


i dont think ive ever read something so realistic in my life before, not even a real published novel. nothing has ever affected me as much as this one shot did, the true rawness of the subject matter and the way it was handled was done in such an amazingly beautiful way i could only imagine writing something as truly great as this oneshot. it was just two words that inspired this oneshot that captivated my heart, you honestly have so much talent.
