Gonna try to explain and create my first tutorial because I am just getting into Photoshop and I have
loved doing different tutorials and I'm sad there aren't any artists doing them anymore!
So anyways.. Here we go! We will be making this today
First lets get everything linked in
I will also link the items as we use them through the graphic
Background:
waves trees flowers swirl
People:
Calum Arden Luke
Overlays:
overlay 1 overlay 2
PSD:
1 2 3
Step 1!
Start out with opening a new 650x200 photoshop and pasting in the waves background graphic, I resized it and
fit it a little larger than my canvas and just placed it where I liked it.
Next I placed the trees onto a new layer. I don't think I resized it, but I did set it more to the left side. I used a soft fluffy
brush to blend the two together, on the right side (around the trees and took away the edge mostly)
then set it to hard light at opacity 74%.
Next, I placed my flowers graphic to the left side, mostly off the canvas so you can only see about
two thirds of it and set it to lighten color, 100% opacity. Don't worry about blending this
into the background since it will be covered up later by Calum!
Last step of the background is paste the swirl graphic in and resize it as you like (I made my smaller)
and then place it on the right bottom size of the graphic! Set the layer to screen, at 100% opacity.
This is what mine looked like so far
Step 2!
Paste in Calum (or whomever you choose) and use a soft fluffy brush to soften the edges if you wish. I set him a little
to the left of the middle and I did not resize the image at all, just moved it around until I liked it
Do the same with Arden, though for her I did scale her down and I flipped her
image - put your own spin on it and have her whatever size you want!
Last add Luke and resize as you want and place wherever you wish!
I didn't use a brush on him or Arden, but you can if
you wish, use your judgement if you want them blended
more into the background or anything
Progressive shot:
Step 3!
For the overlays, honestly I am not quite sure what I did haha but I will explain as best as I can.
Paste the first into the graphic and set to lighten at 80% opacity. I rotated the
image and placed it mostly over Cal's bottom half, insert a mask and use a soft brush
to erase the parts you don't want! I left almost the whole graphic in place.
The next thing I did was created a new layer and filled it black, then just set the layer to soft light at 37%
opacity (this just darkened the graphic a little, it was a little too bright for me).
Lastly insert the second overlay and move it around as you want. I moved it until you
could see the cracks on Calum's hat and a little
on Arden's hair. I set mine to exclusion at 52% opacity.
Progressive shot:
Text!
Heart Broken is Another Shabby, 72 pt. I set the text at an angle (idk the number) and then
created a gradient overlay of #587c8d to #ce9f88, with a stroke
of 2 px in #1c1b27. I also added a drop shadow in black,
70% opacity, distance 2 px, spread 2% and a size 30 px.
For the subtext, I used calibri italics 12 pt in black and then set the
layer to overlay and duplicated the layer twice so the text would be more visible.
Almost done lovelies!!
Coloring!
First stamp your graphic (ctrl+shift+alt+e on windows) and add an oil paint filter to it.
Set the layer to 70% opacity.
Next stamp the graphic again and sharpen it, set that layer to 55% opacity.
Stamp the graphic againsorry and apply a topaz clean filter as you wish!
Mine was strength 1, threshold 0.24, radius 6.
Progress:
Leave that last layer at 100% opacity and apply the 1st psd file to the graphic, set it to 25% opacity.
Next add the 2nd psd at 25% also.
Lastly insert the 3rd file at 28% opacity.
I know a lot of people stamp and do topaz at the end, so you are welcome
to do the psd files and then do the stamping and topaz. I just flipped it on this graphic.
We are all finished, hopefully if I didn't mess up hugely, you should have a graphic similar to this
If you stuck with me and created something, let me see it! Also, let me
know if I messed up something or anything lol
